GGL Security – Securing the Supply Chain Industry (as featured in Sunday Business Post)

With product safety a priority both for clients and suppliers, supply chain security company GGL Security has seen a surge in demand for its services over the past year.

“With GGL Security’s operations extending across Europe, Russia, South Africa and North America, we have seen a growing focus on the security and integrity of the product during transportation” said Derek Tobin, managing director of GGL Security.

“The integrity of products is critical for clients and end users, whether the products are food, pharmaceuticals, or consumer electronics. With experience in the supply chain security business since 1994, GGL Security offers this level of assurance via our experienced team and focused suite of services.” said Tobin.

“We ensure the goods arrive in the correct state, temperature and with no interference, monitored by our 24/7 international logistics monitoring centre. This provides the client and end user with live load monitoring and a complete security audit trail.”

Monitoring can be via truck or trailer devices or embedded mobile devices that can be used for export, import and/or domestic movements. This results in significant reduction in losses and potentially reduced insurance premiums and excesses for third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and end users.

Tobin said the inclusion of a live monitoring security service was imperative when initiating any transportation tender process, in order to work with quality and dependable carriers.

“Allied to securing the load in transit, this also ensures a high level of driver and carrier compliance. Ultimately this mitigates risk. We have designed a bespoke freight and logistics security monitoring platform that offers confirmation of the integrity of the shipment from point of loading through to final delivery,” said Tobin.

“In GGL Security we appreciate the ebb and flow of multi-modal logistics is not always smooth and change is an every day fact of life. We have designed our operating model and platform to provide our clients with real time visibility and updates on their individual shipments. This allows us the ability to interact directly with progress and effect change if required.”

“We offer a complete solution to our clients from route profiling through to vehicle and container tracking, this is supported via fixed or mobile tracking devices for air, land and ocean, vehicle security escorts and regional escalation services across Europe,” he said.

“Our ranges of services also includes design and implementation of logistics security programmes to support clients’ business objectives. These may be for customs, CTPAT, TAPA, AEO compliance, third party suppliers or accreditation support programmes.”

Last year, GGL Security expanded its operations in the United States supporting significant business on the west coast. Its operations across Europe also grew significantly driven by the higher demand for freight security in a more turbulent geopolitical landscape.

“In 2016 we have planned further expansion of operations in the US, Europe and Russia through a mix of existing client base and new start-ups. This will be backboned by our continued investment in technology and client driven solutions,” said Tobin

Along with its supply chain operations GGL Security operations in Ireland provide a full suite of security services for the Irish domestic market covering security guards, mobile patrols, key-holding services and mobile response services. The company’s monitoring centre in the Limerick headquarters providing alarm & CCTV monitoring nationwide.
